Please read the following Terms and Conditions carefully before proceeding with your booking. These Terms and Conditions are subject to change without notice, from time to time in our sole discretion. Bike in Rio Tours will endeavor to communicate the most updated Terms and Conditions to our clients when changes occur

1. Definitions

‘BRT’ shall mean Bike in Rio Tours. ‘You’ or ‘passenger’ shall mean the person in whose name the booking is made and shall include the person or persons on whose behalf the same is made. ‘Force Majeure’ shall mean any event outside BRT’s control, including but not limited to war and civil strife etc., which prevents the prompt performance of its obligations.

2. General Information

General information included in the website ( is for help and guidance. The contract incorporating these conditions shall be governed by Brazilian law and any matters arising out of it shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Courts of Brazil.

3. Tours

3.1 A regular group tour lasts between 3 – 7 hours. On the occasion that an attraction is closed or the group experiences an unforeseen event (flat tire, protest, etc.) the tour may last more or less than the originally stated time. The routes are fixed; however, due to unexpected road closures, protests, traffic, etc., we sometimes have to find the next best alternate route. Only private tours are allowed to customize tours to their specifications so long as the tour doesn’t exceed the indicated maximum time (please see point 3.4).

3.2 The minimum number of passengers to start any group tour is one for city tours. The minimum number of passengers for forest and beach tours is two. In the rare event that the passenger wants to join a different group tour than the one reserved, BRT will work with the passenger to make an alternative arrangement that best suits the situation.

3.3 Private tours require at least 24 business hours to schedule or reschedule.

3.4 Private tour guides are booked for a certain amount of hours, upon agreement between BRT and the passenger(s). At the discretion of the guide’s availability, if a private tour exceeds the agreed upon length of time, the price is 30 USD per extra hour (per group). The extra hour begins at 30 minutes after the agreed upon end time. The guide reserves the right to accept or decline working beyond the agreed upon hours.

4. No Show and Late Arrival Policy

4.1 If the passenger does not arrive to the tour (20 minute window) and does not give any notice beforehand, it is considered a “no-show.” No refund whatsoever will be issued to no show guests.

4.2 In any situation where the passenger(s) do not show up for their scheduled tour and they are the only passenger(s) in the tour, BRT reserves the right to cancel the tour after 20 minutes of waiting unless notification of late arrival has been made in advance.

4.3 Tours start and end as scheduled by BRT. If a passenger arrives late, the tour time missed is not refundable but may be changed to another tour date against a rescheduling fee of 20 USD per passenger, depending on schedule availability.

4.4 If a passenger arrives late to a private tour, BRT reserves the right to alter (shorten) the itinerary accordingly in order for the tour to end at the agreed upon time.

5. Travel Documents and Insurance

The passenger is fully responsible for having all necessary valid travel documents, travel insurance and medical insurance. Any non-compliance and any resulting damages are the sole responsibility of the passenger.

6. Prices

The prices stated on the website are the official charges; prices in any printed flyers, brochures, advertisements or other materials are for indication only. Prices are subject to change at any time. In the case that only partial payment was made by a passenger and the prices changed, it is at the discretion of BRT to decide whether or not to honor the price from the time of booking to the passenger upon completion of the full payment.

7. Discounts

7.1 Discounts for private group tours are solely up to the discretion of BRT and are subject to change if the original agreement is modified.

7.2 Discounts that are offered directly by Bike in Rio Tours cannot be combined with any other discounts offered by third parties, unless stated otherwise.

8. Booking and Payment

8.1 Due to the limited capacity of each tour, spots are available according to reservations and then on a first come, first served basis. Therefore, the spot is not guaranteed and booking is not finalized until full payment has been processed and a confirmation receipt has been issued. Full payment must be paid before the tour.

9. Special Requirements

Any special requests must be advised to Bike in Rio Tours at the time of reserving the tour in writing.

10. Cancellation, Reschedule, Refund & Rain Policy

10.1 If a passenger wants to cancel a booking, the request must be made to BRT in writing. The date/time of cancellation will be the date/time that BRT receives the letter or email.

10.2 BRT offers a 100% refund if the reservation is cancelled more than 48 hours (2 days) prior to the scheduled tour. If the cancellation request is within 48 hours of the tour start time BRT will refund 50% of the payment or issue 100% credit to a tour of less or equal value in the future against a reschedule fee of 20 USD. The rescheduled date will depend on the tour schedule availability.

10.3 Rain Policy- In the case of rain, it shall be assumed that the tour will be going as scheduled unless otherwise notified by BRT to the client. BRT will cancel the tour in cases of weather that compromise the safety of the guests which include lightning, thunder and/or flooding. BRT provides rain ponchos and other measures to mitigate the weather, therefore, if the tour goes out and the passenger decides to cancel their booking, he/she will be refunded 50% of their payment or given 100% credit to a future tour of equal or less value.

11. Changes by Bike in Rio Tours

BRT reserves the right to modify or cancel its services arrangements if unforeseen circumstances arise. If BRT cancels or significantly changes the elements of a booked program due to force majeure, on or before the start date of such program, BRT will inform the passenger as soon as possible and will put its utmost effort to arrange alternatives that are of equal value. If force majeure occurs while the program is in progress, BRT will try to make reasonable alternative arrangements as well.

12. Liability of Bike in Rio Tours

BRT is responsible for ensuring that all services are supplied as described and that they all reach reasonable standard. However, BRT will not be liable for the failure or improper performance of these products and services where such failure or improper performance is attributable to a) the fault of the passenger, b) the unforeseeable or unavoidable actions of an unconnected third party, c) unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond BRT’s control, including force majeure.

13. Codes of Conduct

Passengers are expected to behave respectfully to others, including but not limited to fellow passengers, guides, staff and/or activity personnel, and to the property of others, including but not limited to shared facilities and public environment. Also, passengers are expected to obey the laws and adapt to the customs of the country they travel in. The Codes of Conduct is outlined as such and serves as a guideline for all BRT passengers to follow.

BRT reserves the right to remove a passenger from his/her tour if such passenger violates the Codes of Conduct. No refund will be given, and the passenger must pay the full compensation for any damages that might have been caused.

14. Privacy Policy

All the personal information that is collected during the BRT registration process will be used for BRT administration and booking purposes only. BRT does not rent, sell, or share personal information about you with other people or non-affiliated companies except to provide products or services you’ve requested. BRT may occasionally send news, such as information on our current events, special events happening in Rio de Janeiro during your stay, special promotions etc. to your provided email address.
